Harmful ads (Criminal damage and Miu Miu):
Kids are smoking in the Criminal Damage advert. This is illegal so there are going to be problems with this as it promotes the use of cigarettes for the younger generation.
The advert was taken down as it was seen as irresponsible. The complaint was upheld.
In the Miu Miu advert there is a 14 year old girl who looks upset sitting on a train track. A problem with this could be that it could be seen by people that it is safe to be on a train tracker. Kids may see it as a suitable place to play.
The advert is meant for adults so it was to be taken with responsibility. However, there is a child in the image so it was not suitable.
POM and Ribena:
The POM advert says "Cheat Death". This is misleading as some people may drink the juice believing they will be able to cheat death.
The advert was not allowed to be used again as they were not able to prove that the drink could prolong life.
The bristles are ribena bottles. People could think that drinking ribena could be better than brushing your teeth. It is less worse than normal ribena ,however, it is not good for you.
Offensive ads (Junkies, Department of Health) :
Some people with dyslexia may find this offensive. Several people who made the leaflet had dyslexia. Its suggested that people with dyslexia are stupid.
People thought that was distressing and not suitable for children. It was held up but it was not to be shown at times that children would be watching.
